Allow us to offer a quick update on the swim team situation this year. We are still waiting for the official approval from the HOA board to enter the water. As we understand it, the board has met and we are waiting for their legal department to review our insurance policy.

So, here’s what we DO know.

This will NOT be a traditional swim season. In fact, we will not be competing against other teams this year through SHRSL. With the extra insurance requirements from the HOA, it simply didn’t make sense to participate in the virtual meets that SHRSL was offering. We 100% plan on rejoining the league for next season. We are planning 3 intrasquad meets. Those meets will have a similar format to a traditional meet. These will likely be split into a young group and older group to help with crowds. The anticipated dates are Monday, June 15, Monday, June 29 and Thursday, July 9.

Before any swimmer, coach, member, etc. can participate, he/she will need to complete an Association-provided waiver. As soon as this is provided by the HOA, we will send it out.

New practice start date is anticipated to be June 3. Please keep an eye on the schedule as it will most likely be adjusted. Practices will be fairly normal--divided by age groups, multiple swimmers sharing a lane, coaches coaching, etc.

We understand that many of you might be unsure as to whether you’ll be participating this season or not. As we always do, we’ll do our best to ensure the safety of your swimmers. We also acknowledge that “safety” is a relative term this season, and many of us share differing opinions on the matter. In order to set an expectation, we’d like to offer a “come and see” approach to this year. For the first week of the season, if you decide that this isn’t for you and your family and choose not to participate—no problem! We will offer a full refund, and you will still receive returning-swimmer status for the 2021 season. We trust that each family will make the best decision for their circumstances and want to give them every opportunity to do so.
